This was on my mind at the last meeting. At the end, the COTBOE was reading a resolution about sending local money to funds called the GAA (global assistance arrangement) and the COAA (for CO's). He said the GAA was a mass fund to prepare for unexpected expenses and liabilities including those that take place on Kingdom Hall property. Before the voting he said 'Any questions?' and I was SO tempted to raise my hand and ask "Are the millions of dollars worth of child abuse judgements and out of court settlements taken from the GAA, or is that another fund?"

January 2018 Study Watchtower - if only J.W.'s knew the truth!
by The Fall Guy inpage 19, paragraph 12: "with prayerful consideration, the governing body strives to be faithful and discreet with regard to how the organization’s funds are used.".
yeah, i "prayed" too - that more and more j.w.
's would discover that millions of dollars of their hard-earned cash were being misused to shut the mouths of j.w.

Trivial stuff about the AGM

Spot on impressions of the speakers!
Sorry Sister Lett
You had me LOL 😂
As for Loesch, he ALWAYS gives talks like that. Just look at any talk of his from Gilead, Annual Meetings etc. and it's always a hodgepodge of quotes facts and figures from Watch Tower publications. Copy paste research, just like a rank and file would do. I think he's the least cunning of the bunch, and somehow just happened to get on the GB. Probably follows the lead of Splane and Morris despite being the senior GB member. Morris, yep, he's as opinionated and cantankerous as they come. And as for Splane, he's probably got Fred Franz's picture in his locker.

When did the recording of prayers stop? Why?
by careful ini was just listening to the annual meeting recording posted here in another thread.
about half way through it, a prayer was offered.
i was wondering if the recorder (and i have no idea if this was a person making an official recording or just some independent person making one) was going to keep the recording device on for the prayer.

I don't know why but it's been this way for years. I was just talking about this yesterday with a JW, I said 'So prayers written in the Bible are okay, but video is wrong?'

2017 Annual Meeting
by Jules Saturn inthis just in from the 2017 annual meeting:.
1. watchtowers and awakes won't be released regularly, at least three watchtower and awakes per year.
6 magazines a year.. 2. a new book is being released: remain in god's love, more of an update like how they did for the what does the bible really teach book.

Despite what I said was most likely, I do think that a Jamestown scenario is technically feasible for a large percentage (but not most) JWs.

I honestly don't think there's some end game escape scenario master plan. The GB know they're liers but also sincerely believe it at the same time. They're on a mad course and will try their darnedest no matter how far they go, never admitting defeat and hanging on to whatever believers they can. The religion will probably never go away, just change.

At the annual meeting right now . . .
by neat blue dog ini'm at the recorded meeting right now.
trying to hide my disgust sitting up front listening to geoffrey jackson quibble about the pharisaical minutai of sanctification vs. vindication.
the audience is thrilled that they now have 'permission' to say god's name can be vindicated.

Thanks for the quote! The name of the article is Flashes of Light. So if it really wasn't light what is it then? They even word it all the same way they do today, 'For a long time, we ... But ... You will notice that in recent publications ... Evidently ... Therefore ...'

Thanks for the link, suavojr.
This may not show up on JW Broadcasting after all, because the last 'live' event we had, the Branch Visit a couple years ago, never made it to JW Broadcasting. Then again maybe that was because of AM the turd's controversial comments about tight pants, bright socks, and that men who aren't ministerial servants by age 23 aren't worth anything.

Well if the Governing Body says it, it must be true.
I'm this close to pulling my hair out. 😫

Here's a weird one:
One of the last announcements was that all of the society's corporate shareholders and their guests would be given a free meal afterwards. 🤔
